PDP ready to form alliance with Peter Obi, LP – Atiku
Atiku Abubakar, the Peoples Democratic Party's (PDP) presidential nominee, has stated that the party is ready to joining forces with the Labour Party (LP).
This statement was delivered by Abubakar on Thursday in Abuja during a press briefing.
The former vice president acknowledged that the PDP suffered a significant loss of support to Peter Obi, the LP's presidential candidate, in the election held on Saturday.
It is true that he received our votes in the south-east and south-south, but it would obviously not make him president, he asserted.
You are all aware that in this nation, being president requires support from all corners of the country. Thus, in my opinion, Peter is welcome to speak with PDP; we are open to doing so.
“I don’t think we will have any problem if he wants to dialogue with PDP — either form an alliance or not.”
Abubakar said Obi left the party and joined the LP after governors in the PDP insisted that someone among them must the be standard-bearer, and vice presidential candidate.
